Sometimes life can feel overwhelming and we don't know which way to turn. Not all of us have friends or family to confide in - or if we do we can feel that we don't want to upset them with our thoughts. So my offer to you is a supportive space to bring whatever you would like to talk about. I work both face to face in Dorset or online.
About me and my practice
Sometimes in our lives we come across difficulties and do not know how to deal with them. We do not want to worry those people closest to us, so I offer a space for you to come and explore your thoughts and feelings in a non-judgemental and supportive space.
I believe that we all hold our own answers for ourselves, and we will work together to find out what your answers are for you.
Having qualified almost 20 years ago, I am an experienced integrative counsellor currently working in Cancer Services at my local NHS Trust supporting patients and their families. I have also worked for a Domestic Violence charity and a charity supporting people with alcohol and substance misuse.
For Supervision, I bring 20 years of varied experience to work with you in your practice. Again I am here to support and sometimes challenge to ensure you are working in the best way you can. I also have a strong focus on counsellors wellbeing and this will form part of our sessions.
Experience
I am an experienced integrative counsellor (with a core in Person-Centre) - so in lay terms it means that I believe that everyone's cirumstances are unique and you and I work together in a way that is right for you. I do not offer advice, or tell you what to do! I may challenge you, I may make some suggestions, but then it's up to you if you take those suggestions, if not, we just look for something else that feels right for you.
I currently work in Cancer Services at my local NHS Trust so am experience in life changing/limiting illness and also bereavement.
Previously I have worked in substance abuse services so understand the compelling force of addiction to substances, gambling, sex, exercise etc...
I have also worked for a Domestic Violence charity for women living in a refuge and the challenges this brings.
I have lived experience of postnatal depression, menopause, bereavement, physical difference.
